Product description

The Thruster TURBO Control System reduces the reaction times of electro-hydraulically operated thrusters to 140-150 ms instead of 350-450 ms.

The result is a much faster brake reaction.

  • Faster brake reaction due to faster thruster control (for all thrusters acc. to DIN)
  • Almost simultaneous brake reaction times of holding brake “Fast speed brake” (between motor and gear box) and safety caliper brake “Low speed brake” (flanged wheel/disc of rope drum)
    – Protection against gear box damages due to different brake reaction times
  • Early and faster braking results a lower overspeed
  • Strong reduction of maintenance and follow up costs

Functional principle

The thruster will be controlled by the Thruster TURBO Control System. Due to this, the usually “slow” holding brake has faster reaction times as in normal operating conditions

Technical benefits

  • Almost simultaneous brake reaction times as safety caliper brake “Low speed brake”
  • Impacts into the gear box resulting from different brake and reaction times will be reduced and avoided
    – Different brake reaction times: Torque shocks are 9-times higher as the nominal torque
